Reheating food in the microwave is certainly quick and convenient, but it does not heat food evenly, nor does it eliminate bacteria present on the surface of food.
The microwave appeared in the 1950s. A few basic rules must be respected, such as not introducing any metal object, removing the plastic cover, respecting the cooking time. But the fact that it does not cook food evenly does not solve the proliferation of bacteria. Here are the few foods that should not be heated in the microwave.
Already cooked rice contains a bacterium, Bacillus cereus, according to a Cambridge University study in 2009. This bacterium is not resistant to microwave heat, but on the other hand, it can produce toxic spores, which they do not not disappear with heat. At room temperature, these spores even tend to develop. These lead to food poisoning, diarrhea and vomiting.
Mushrooms are eaten fresh, soon after being picked. By reheating them in the microwave after cooking them, they risk being poorly digested and causing bloating or stomach pain. The best alternative is to eat them cold, in salads for example.
Heating the oils is not a good idea: it generates acidity, responsible for gastric reflux.
Rich in protein, its taste is modified if it is heated. In addition, it can release bad bacteria for health, responsible for food poisoning. Also, do not try to cook it in the microwave: its heat is not powerful enough to kill bacteria. As with mushrooms, the solution is to eat them cold, in a salad.
Heating eggs in the microwave is bad for your skin, mouth and ears, according to a 2017 study by the Acoustical Society of America. therefore explode once we plant our fork in it, which can cause serious burns, but also lead to an explosion whose sound level is between 86 and 133 decibels: the sound of an aircraft engine starting up located 300 meters away. Therefore, it can also harm hearing.
