Light, fluid and soft, its texture when fresh is reminiscent of chocolate mousse. However, it is not a question of a dessert but of an insulating material of mineral origin and entirely recyclable. This patented technology developed by Holcim is now used for the insulation of floors, attics, roofs, in repairs or even in filling concrete blocks.

Composed of up to 95% low-density air, this mineral foam has a lifespan comparable to that of concrete with no settling effect and no loss of performance over time. Non-flammable and non-combustible, it does not attract rodents and does not rot over time. “The desire was also to have high-performance insulation throughout the year that resists temperature changes, which allows it to adapt and keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter” adds Alexander Eisenhauer, head of Airium.

Easier and faster installation

Unlike other reference insulations, Airium foam is not prefabricated. It is prepared directly on site with a dedicated machine mixing a mineral grout with an aqueous foam at the desired density (from 50 kg/m³ to 800 kg/m³), thus offering an optimal compromise between insulation and resistance depending on the application. aimed. Its sparkling and semi-liquid aspect allows a total filling down to the smallest nooks and crannies, thus avoiding the formation of thermal bridges. Used for all types of projects, from collective housing to individual houses, Airium technology allows for simpler and faster installation. For floor systems, for example – in screed or under screed -, Airium™ offers continuous insulation that is easy to smooth. The fact of foaming directly on site will greatly simplify logistics for building professionals: the volume of materials to be transported on site is thus reduced by a factor of 4 to 12, (depending on the density chosen and the alternative systems compared ).
