Digicel has started offering the latest innovation in mobile telephony – eSIM technology.
“Jamaica’s fastest digital provider and mobile network has made this announcement following a rigorous and successful pilot,” LoopNews Jamaica reported.
Digicel, known for its deep-rooted spirit of innovation, decided to ask a number of its customers to participate in an eSIM trial that tested and improved the functionality of the technology, notes this Digicel-run media outlet.
At the end of this phase, Digicel Jamaica CEO Jabbor Kayumov said: “I would like to thank our army of testers who have participated in our eSIM trials over the past two months. Their feedback and insights have made a huge difference by enabling us to deliver a true eSIM experience to our customers today.
An eSIM is a digital version of the physical SIM card that prepaid and postpaid customers use to connect to the Digicel network. eSIM is built into the device for easy setup in selected Digicel stores.
Most eSIM-enabled smartphones also accept a physical SIM or multiple eSIMs, allowing customers to add another Digicel number for business purposes or when traveling abroad.
Digicel said customers with eSIM-enabled smartphones can visit the nearest Digicel store to them.
There, customers switching to Digicel will also receive a limited-time offer of a 28-day Prime plan welcome gift plus 25% off selected Brawta Prime plan activations in the MyDigicel app for customers.
“Digicel’s true eSIM solution now takes its customers further into the digital future,” the digital operator said.
An eSIM card is a digital SIM card that allows you to activate a mobile data plan from your network provider without having to use a physical nano SIM card.
Global service providers also offer eSIM subscriptions in over a hundred countries and regions that you can use at home or while traveling. If your smartphone is unlocked, you can also use eSIM subscriptions offered by other providers.
