five Nice players victims of a virus in Serbia

Despite opening the scoring very early, Nice conceded a draw at Partizan Belgrade (1-1) on the second day of the Europa Conference League. A match that the Aiglons approached diminished by an intestinal virus.

OGC Nice still does not win in the Europa Conference League. We still do not lose, depending on the sensitivities. After a draw at the Allianz Riviera against Cologne (1-1) marked by serious incidents in the stands, the Aiglons were hooked this time to Partizan Belgrade (1-1). The start of the game was however ideal, with an opener from the 2nd minute.

On loan from Fulham at the end of the transfer window, full-back Joe Bryan popped up in the heart of the box to take advantage of a mess in Aleksandar Popovic’s box. But failing to make the break, the Azureans exposed themselves to a return of the Serbs. An outcome in the second half with a nice strike from the former player of Amiens and Leicester, Fousseni Diabaté (60th). A match approached without all their vital forces by the men of Lucien Favre.

Bard too touched to be on the scoresheet

Five Nice players and three members of the OGCN staff were thus struck by an intestinal virus during the trip to Serbia. The most affected will have been the left side, Melvin Bard, absent from the score sheet. Goalkeeper Marcin Bulka, expected to start, was also hit and remained on the bench.

The reasons for this intestinal virus remain undetermined for the moment by the OGCN which nevertheless travels to the European Cup with its own cook.
