Every Friday, Arnaud Laporte takes news of the artists in residence at the Villa Albertine, in the United States.
Within the company Adrien M & Claire B which she founded with her friend Adrien M and which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, Claire Bardainne creates shows and installations at the crossroads of visual and performing arts.
In their work, the machines are summoned to feel the living, being and movement differently, to play with modes of being in the world, in a process of linking the material and the immaterial.
At a time increasingly critical of the imprint of technological activity for productivity purposes, Adrien M & Claire B wanted to question their practice by visiting, as part of the tailor-made residency offered by the Villa Albertine, at the epicenter, in the nerve center of new technologies: in San Francisco and in Silicon Valley.
Is it really possible, as artists, to use technological tools to develop a singularity of writing, free, in the service of poetic, non-productive experiences, whereas with these same techniques, a socio – opposite policy is implemented? So how can we even continue to do our job as artists today, given the imprint of this human activity using technology? Claire Barrdaine
The opportunity for the two artists to meet the communities of Silicon Valley who design most of the technologies of today and tomorrow, in order to question and shift their gaze, to push their practice in its retrenchments, and to share with these partners ideas for implementation, concrete practices, in particular around forms of soft technocriticism such as movement slow, to try towrite stories, fabricate visions, build an imaginary offensive (Claire Barrdaine).
