iOS 16 improves real-time translation on the iPhone, to compete with Google

Among the new features of iOS 16, Apple has improved its translation tool integrated into the iPhone camera. As a reminder, the latter can be used to translate in real time signs, packaging, notices, etc.

In effect, just open the Camera app and point it at the relevant text. Then press the text select button and choose translation option. This feature will be very useful for those who travel / work abroad (depending on sanitary measures).

As a reminder, the Google Translate app has long had a similar feature. And it was high time that Cupertino finally enriched its own system to be competitive (the approach is also found with Plans which must fight with the many options of Google Maps).

Added to this are new quick actions to use and other text-related options. The former allowact on data detected in photos, videos and via the Camera app. Information on flights, shipments, foreign languages, currencies, URLs and more can be decrypted to track packages, perform conversions, visit URLs.

Over here all the new features of iOS 16! !
