Mauricio Pochettino hopes better than OGC Nice

After a very disappointing start to the season, a very inconsistent transfer window, OGC Nice decided to react quickly. And as so often in football when the players are not performing, the first target is none other than the coach. And Lucien Favre is no exception to this rule. The Swiss technician, back in the Côte d’Azur, does not satisfy his leaders. The latter have been thinking for several days about a possible replacement who would therefore take advantage of the international break to settle.

In recent days, we revealed to you that OGC Nice had started discussions with … Mauricio Pochettino. The former PSG coach, without a club since leaving the capital last July, even met the Nice leaders. A meeting took place between the two parties and the Argentinian coach was particularly interested in the Nice challenge, especially since he wants to return to service very quickly and not stay away from the pitch for too long. But Nice shouldn’t be Pochettino’s next destination.

He is waiting for a more upscale club

Indeed, according to our indiscretions, despite the mutual interest between the former coach of Tottenham and Nice, there is little chance that the negotiations will lead to an agreement. Mauricio Pochetinno still hopes to succeed in joining a big European club in the near future and therefore believes that it is not really wise to accept the Nice project at the moment. On the Nice side, we are already thinking about what to do next. Iain Moody, the club’s external consultant, blew the name of Scott Parker, former Bournemouth coach, free since leaving this summer.

While Chelsea have already found Thomas Tuchel’s successor in Graham Potter and Manchester United (or his name is often cited) seem to be doing better, Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t really have any opportunities at the moment. But his choice remains rather to wait and to temporize in the hope of having a more upscale club. It remains to be seen whether this club will present itself to him.
