Four cases had been identified in young adults who had attended the same nightclub.

One person died of meningitis contracted in Strasbourg, BFM Alsace learned from ARS Grand Est.

Since the beginning of November, the ARS has reported several cases of invasive meningococcal infections (IIM) in Strasbourg and its agglomeration, including four young adults who attended the same nightclub: the Live club in Strasbourg.

“All at-risk contacts declared by these four cases were contacted by the ARS and received antibiotic prophylactic treatment,” said the ARS on Wednesday in a press release.

Contact 15 in case of symptoms

Fever, headache, vomiting, stiff neck are the first symptoms that should alert. In such a situation, the Regional Health Agency recommends contacting 15 urgently.

The Regional Health Agency calls on health professionals to be “extremely vigilant if new patients arrive with the same symptoms”, reports the communication department of the ARS.
