Samsung made fun of Apple again. In an advertising video, the South Korean giant mocked iPhone users, who are patiently awaiting the arrival of certain technologies already available on its own smartphones.
Samsung has once again gotten the hell out of Apple. In an advertisement posted on YouTube, the American branch of the brand openly derided iPhone users.
baptized ” On the fence » (” on the fence » in French), the commercial shows an iPhone user who is hesitant to go to Samsung’s side. The world enters both ecosystems is separated by a high fence. On the side of Apple devices, we see several users behind a MacBook. Offscreen, Samsung’s world appears brighter. The grass seems greener on the side of the South Korean brand.

Samsung mocks the lack of a folding iPhone
Sitting on the fence, an Apple user addresses his peers: ” on the Samsung side, they have folding smartphones and an epic camera”. They retort in hearts, with the docility of a Panurge sheep, that they are waiting for the arrival of these innovations on their iPhones: ” that’s what we do, we wait. We are waiting “. The sequence ends with this clear slogan: “it’s time to cross the fence”.
With very little subtlety, Samsung mocks the absence of an iPhone with a folding screen in the catalog of its rival. The group also tackles, with a little more finesse this time, the closed ecosystem of Apple.
It’s not the first time that Samsung points the finger at the non-existence of a folding iPhone to highlight its Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. During the iPhone 14 keynote, the Samsung US Twitter account had already exclaimed: “let us know when it folds”. At the same time, the brand had broadcast an advertisement for the Z Flip 4 which was aimed at iPhone users. The video tried to convince the irreducible of the iPhone to try the adventure of a folding smartphone.
The undisputed leader of this niche market, Samsung boasts of stealing customers from its competitors with its range of folding phones. The brand would especially nibble the market share of Apple, which remains the number one high-end thanks to its iPhone. In South Korea, iPhone users between the ages of 20 and 30 would be particularly attracted to the Z Fold and Z Flip, Samsung recently assured.
No folding iPhone for several years
Unlike other manufacturers, Apple has not yet announced its intention to enter the folding smartphone market. According to the latest news, the folding iPhone would not be not a reality for several years. According to analysts at CCS Insight, the Cupertino giant should wait until 2025 before entering this market dominated by Samsung.
Upstream, Apple would market other devices with a folding screen. As a precaution, the Californian firm should first introduce an iPad that folds. The release of this flexible tablet is expected in 2024.
“Right now, it doesn’t make sense for Apple to make a folding iPhone. We think they’ll steer clear of this trend and probably dip a toe in the water with a folding iPad. A foldable iPhone represents a very high risk for Apple. First of all, it would have to be incredibly expensive so as not to cannibalize existing iPhones”says analyst Ben Wood.
In a recent report sent to its suppliers, Samsung agrees. The Seoul-based giant believes its rival will launch a folding iPad first in 2024, with a hypothetical folding iPhone later.
