In the Mediterranean countries, it is nicknamed green gold. Olive oil has been known for its benefits since ancient times. The oleocanthal it contains would even be anti-cancer, according to a study by Rutgers University and Hunter College of the City University of New York. But if this research is still being tested, the latter has largely proven other of its benefits.
For beautiful hair
Pollution, cold, heat, stress, tobacco… These are all factors that damage and dull our hair. To treat them, soak your hair in olive oil and massage the scalp, from my root to the tips. Then wrap them in a hot towel for an hour. Then rinse them with clean water. Repeat the process several times a week.
Olive oil also heals scalp irritations.
To strengthen the nails
Whether they are brittle or too soft, olive oil can save your nails. Like castor, jojoba or sweet almond oil, it has fortifying and moisturizing properties. Dip your nails for a few moments in a mixture of olive and heated lemon juice. You can also massage your cuticles with it, without rinsing.
Olive oil is an antioxidant, thanks to oleocanthal, a natural organic compound it contains and which also gives it its peppery taste. It can also relieve headaches.
It relieves intestinal problems, improves transit and lubricates the stool. Drink a tablespoon of olive oil in the morning when you wake up. If the taste disgusts you, mix it with lemon or yogurt.
Moisturizes the skin
Olive oil is found in many cosmetic products. But no need to spend hundreds of euros: Marseille soap, made of olive oil, contains vitamin E, as well as omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9. It hydrates even the driest skin. You can also mix a little soap with honey and an egg yolk, to apply like a lotion.
You can also add a few drops of olive oil to your bath to hydrate your whole body.
