the start of the race will take place on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m.

The start of the Route du Rhum in Saint-Malo which was to take place this Sunday is postponed to Wednesday ultimately. Race organizer Joseph Bizard confirms this to France Bleu this Sunday morning. There were still uncertainties on Saturday evening between a start on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 138 sailors will cross the starting line at the Pointe du Grouin at 2:15 p.m.. “The weather is more favorable. It remains committed, but it is completely acceptable”, specifies Francis Le Goff, director of the race.

The decision to postpone was taken on Saturday noon because of the very bad weather expected over the next few days off the coast of Brittany. This is the first time in the history of the race that the start of the Route du Rhum has been postponed.

The Class40s and the Rhum Mono and Rhum Multi categories will pass through the lock on Wednesday morning. The system will be similar to that deployed for the release of the Ultims last Friday
with bleachers accessible to the public.

The village will remain open until 5 p.m. this Sunday.
